thanksgiving 2k25

Although I can’t say Thanksgiving has ever been my favorite holiday, this year was my first year after moving far enough away from family that we decided to host a small dinner for three instead of dealing with the hustle and bustle of travel. And honestly? Best Thanksgiving ever (sorry Mom). We just used to travel North 1 hour and then South 3 hours and then North back home 2 hours every Thanksgiving and Christmas every single year. I became a Scrooge and a Grinch and had a hard time enjoying myself. From this day forward, Thanksgiving is for me and Christmas is for pleasing everyone else.

But I’m most thankful to be able to create a feast for my little family that I can eat with my dietary restrictions and during a time that so many people are having trouble getting food on their tables. And on that note, I’m going to plug the concept of donating to your local food banks! Give them money if you can, not expired food! It’s more important than ever to publicly maintain important local services as our federal government cuts and undermines every social program it can.

so pleased with these vibes

MENU (plus recipe links, where applicable)

the cranberry sauce we forgot about until dinner was about over
featuring my little brother, my husband, and the football game I was forced to endure
my homemade outfit

And lastly, I wore a dress that I made half out of the tablecloth that came from the same collection my napkins were in. 😛 Inspired by style icon Marcia, I used the ~free~ Seamwork Hansie top, shortened it quite a bit, and added a gathered skirt with pockets. I didn’t have quite enough tablecloth (because I had used it to recover my ironing board lol) so I did one of my favorite halvsies tops with another vintage fabric from a rummage sale. Oh! Featuring bird leg socks gifted from another little brother because of those chicken leg sock workout tiktoks we loved (which I would like to link but tiktok is a black void that is impossible to navigate).

Hope your own Thanksgiving was as stress free as possible and you got to eat all your favorites. If you’re not American then I hope you had a good day. Eat some mac and cheese at least.

p.s. I’m giving up on apologizing for posting super infrequently. Does anyone even read this blog? Not really lol. I just do this because social media is a hell scape and I miss the blog era 🌼
